Write or...?
Since January I have been going slowly batty because, for various boring reasons, I haven't read or written much of anything. Funny, though, because I have an editing position at a literary journal, Creative Nonfiction, so reading and writing is what I should be doing all. the. time. But my work reading and writing is different from my passion reading and writing.
What makes things more fun, is that I'm currently applying to Masters in Fine Arts programs in Creative Writing. Being out of writing practice does not help this already overwhelming process.
I'm taking one grad writing class at Pitt, Workshops in Creative Nonfiction, which has been tremendously helpful and gets me excited for full-blown grad school. But talking with MFA students once a week for 3 hours isn't enough to satisfy my need to read and write.
The point is, I thought creating a blog would encourage me to write more. Or procrastinate more, which is also a good thing. I'm not going to pretend that I will only write about writing. That's incredibly boring. I just want to see myself write more about anything. I'd like to stay away from "dear diary" type stuff or "so what's the deal with" themes, but I don't know what will come of this blog stuff.
My assumption is that this blog will focus on the life and times of a 20-something girl with no self-discipline but plenty of desire applying to grad school. In addition to creative writing programs, I'm applying for a Masters in International Disaster Psychology at the University of Denver. I've talked endlessly about grad schools to the people in my life, so I'd like to give them a break and annoy the online world instead.
One more thing. Despite my longing to write, it seems I'm always debating if I should write or do something different, professionally speaking. So I'm not a writer. I'm a write or...?

Go Mimi!
I, for one, am pleased to see you writing. I've never read any of it before, so I will feel free to comment on your blogging, not simply as a comparison to your real writing, but rather, as it merits its own worth. ROCK THE WORLD.
